Portefeuille Work & Income
Commissie Sociaal Domein & WonenWork makes people self-reliant, makes them feel valuable to society and is the best way out of poverty. That is why STIP focuses on this in its poverty policy. Even when someone is not working, he or she can make a contribution to society through voluntary work.
The municipality's communication and service provision about benefits and poverty policy must be innovated. It must be clear and simple to apply for benefits so that as few mistakes as possible are made. The biggest creditor of debtors is the government itself, so the municipality has to practise social collection.
In addition, we believe that debt assistance should be provided in a proactive, early stage approach. We also pay specific attention to young people, who are more vulnerable to debt. We do this by expanding the Youth Perspective Fund to help young people find a job free of debt and by providing information at schools.
